Compost Tea and Extracts Workshop

Tea brews made from quality compost or worm castings may be used to add nutrients and beneficial microbes to desert garden soil, enhancing soil fertility. The workshop includes useful information on biology, various materials, brewing methods, tailoring techniques and uses for finished compost tea. Aspects of desert soil biology and amending will be presented. Teas may be tailored to the needs of an individual soil profile.
The class will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, at the Open Space Visitor Center, 6500 Coors NW, Albuquerque (map).
The workshop will be led by Bernalillo County Master Composters Mel Chavez and John Zarola. Mel Chavez specializes in vermiculture, vermicomposting, and compost tea preparation. John Zarola has an interest in the relationship between composting and soil amending. The agenda is as follows:

The workshop is open to everyone. Cost is $10. Pre-registration with payment is required. Registration deadline is February 21, 2018.
